On Sunday, the 40th, Fred Thompson announced that he does not favor a Constitutional Human Life Amendment or making abortion illegal, but that he is still Pro-Life.
On Monday, 700 Cub and Christian Coalition founder Pat Robertson endorsed Rudy Giuliani for President.
On Tuesday, Robertson issued a joint communiqué with radio talk show host Michael Medved, saying that Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered culture is not as bad as everyone thinks, gun control is “okay” and, that while abortion is still bad, at least it isn’t killing anyone. Giuliani’s campaign circulated the press release and added, “The true mark of a strict constructionist is support for Roe v. Wade.”
On Wednesday, James Dobson, apparently retaliating for the Robertson endorsement, announced a Third Party to support the candidacy of Hillary Clinton.
On Thursday, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez endorsed Pat Robertson for President with a communiqué that said Christian culture is not as bad as everyone thinks, capitalism is “okay” and that, although the Republican Party is still bad, at least it isn’t killing anyone.
On Friday, Mahmood Ahmadi-Najad, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, announced that he will be retiring in ‘08 and has named a Jewish woman as his replacement.
On Saturday, Fred Thompson reversed himself, endorsing a Human Life Amendment and calling for legal prohibitions on any intentional termination of a pregnancy, but saying he is now “personally pro-abortion.”
This morning, at a press conference from a campaign stop in Hell, Michigan, Dennis Kucinich clarified his previous statements about the “UFO” he observed from the Shirley MacLaine property in Washington State. “It has been identified from photographs,” said Kucinich, “and it was not a spacecraft or anything to do with aliens. It was a small flock of flying pigs.” Kucinich spoke from outside an ice-fishing hut erected on Patterson Lake, that has frozen over along with the rest of the city.
