Thanksgiving Proclamation
November 22, 2007 by Doug Parris
From Ronald Reagan:
| Two hundred years ago, the Congress of the United States issued a Thanksgiving Proclamation stating that it was “the indispensable duty of all nations” to offer both praise and supplication to God. Above all other nations of the world, America has been especially blessed and should give special thanks. We have bountiful harvests, abundant freedoms, and a strong, compassionate people. |

I have always believed that this anointed land was set apart in an uncommon way, that a divine plan placed this great continent here between the oceans to be found by a people from every corner of the Earth who had a special love of faith and freedom. Our pioneers asked that He would work His will in our daily lives so America would be a land of morality, fairness and freedom.Today we have more to be thankful for than our pilgrim mothers and fathers who huddled on the edge of the New World that first Thanksgiving Day could ever dream of. We should be grateful not only for our blessings, but for the courage and strength of our ancestors which enable us to enjoy the lives we do today.Let us affirm through prayers and actions our thankfulness for America’s bounty and heritage. |

Funny how it turns out that America and the people in it are no different from the rest of the worlds slobs.
If people would realize that, then we would not be sitting around waiting for our own lost greatness to save us.
GOP’s Thanksgiving Proposal: Fewer Taxes, More Jobs

But my response is given the way the GOP spent when they were in control of the House of Representatives and given that the first bailout was Bush’s why should we believe the GOPs fiscal promises.
Betray us once shame on you. Betray us twice shame on us!
They can’t even deliver on most of the so called “80 percent” even though the “20 percent” is probably more important to the future direction of America.
Dok, Sage counsel. Colossians 3:15-17. Happy Thanksgiving.
Ed, Dok,
Ronny was right.
America became the freest, most prosperous nation in 3000 years. A very, very special place, unique in modern history.
The error in “American Exceptionalism” is in believing that this came about because of WHO we were, or because we had representative government.
Either of those conceits is reason enough, by itself, for God to withdraw his blessing.
“Our own lost greatness” cannot save us, nor can we restore it ourselves. Peace, prosperity and freedom are not virtues but blessings. They come from God, not men.
The best we may do is to return to the virtues that God saw fit to bless, not as a means to our own benefit, but because they are right.
We must quit breaking the law and return to the rule of law.
We must quit using government to steal the fruit of other men’s labor.
And we must restore basic justice as the primary function of government. Government must be a servant to that end, no more, no less.
American government has not only re-defined its role to do what it must not, but has also quit doing what it must.
America, that once conformed its collective behavior to the moral principles to which nations are accountable has now set her face against them.
And if she does not change she will be broken.
But none of that changes the heritage we have or the purpose to which we were called.
