From the American Family Association:
Honda of Alabama takes logical and reasonable position.
August 21, 2008 The California Supreme Court, which recently legalized same-sex marriage, has ruled by a 7-0 vote that homosexual rights trump religious freedom.
The ruling barred doctors, because of their Christian beliefs, from withholding unnecessary medical care to gays and lesbians. The ruling says that under state law sexual orientation rights trump religious freedom.
Justice Joyce Kennard wrote in the ruling that two Christian fertility doctors who refused to artificially inseminate a lesbian have neither a free speech right nor a religious exemption from the state’s law, which “imposes on business establishments certain antidiscrimination obligations.”
Doctors at the Christian clinic referred the lesbian to another clinic, but the lesbian refused their referral – demanding that the Christian clinic perform the procedure. When the Christian doctors refused to violate their religious convictions, the lesbian sued and the Supreme Court gave her the victory.
This ruling will affect every business in California. If a similar victory in a federal court is won, every business in America will be affected.
For example: Alabama Fertility Specialists (AFS) has begun a campaign to bring Honda of Alabama to its knees because Honda will not cover artificial insemination for a lesbian in it’s insurance.
Honda advised their insurance carrier to “exclude domestic partners (same-sex partners) from ART (Assisted Reproductive Technology) benefits including diagnostic services related to fertility/infertility…” If this doesn’t work, then count on AFS to sue.
Alabama Fertility Specialists alerted the media, their supporters and gay groups about Honda’s actions and called on supporters and gays to bombard Honda with phone calls and letters.
Thank you for caring enough to get involved.

AFA is for people who are tired of cursing the darkness and who are ready to light a bonfire. We are a non-profit (501(c)(3)) organization founded in 1977 by Don Wildmon. The American Family Association represents and stands for traditional family values, focusing primarily on the influence of television and other media – including pornography – on our society.
If you feel our efforts are worthy of support, would you consider making a small tax-deductible contribution to help us continue?

[The principle of Liberty, here being desecrated, parallels the struggle in Washington State for freedom by pharmacy owners from being coercively forced to market "Plan B" aborifacients by a politically well-connected supplier (Planned Parenthood). The issue is, clearly, freedom vs. fascism and Luke Esser and Rob McKenna are both clearly on the wrong side, while Dino Rossi has spoken up for freedom. Doug]

This is similar to the Plan B / pharmacist battle in Washington. It is clear, the people who want the “services” are not as much interested in receiving the same – as they could go to another provider, maybe, even just down the street.
This is clearly a battle of Satan versus God and the goal is to silence Christian thoughts, ideas and practices – and to impose toleration of evil upon everyone. In America, we don’t jail people for being Christian, or proselytizing, we jail them for not following the “law.”
To stand up for the truth is “hate” and “intolerance.”
God save our nation.
Although my gut feeling go towards the Doctors, I just wanted to bring up few points for discussion.
Do they deny service for some emergency or urgent care too? I would think not but could not find the information above.
Secondly what if a Muslim doctor denies service to a fine lady just because she is not coverred in veil and from head to toe? Should the doctor be allowed to religious freedom, in this case to follow his crazy Islam?
I am not supporting the ruling but just wanted to clear my own doubts through some good discussion!
In many stores and restaurants, there used to be a common sign that read, “We maintain the right to refuse service to anyone, ” or something like that. These doctors are not the only ones in the business, the customer is free to find someone WHO WANTS TO TO WORK WITH THEM. Except in the case of emergency – why should anyone be forced to provide services for another?
That the law ever came into being was because of large scale prejudice against the black people. It was common that they could find nobody to buy and sell with or provide services. Here, the law was good.
Today is a different day. There should be no law in this regard because our society is so diverse, nobody can be deprived even in the case of prejudice. These lesbians could have walked down the road and found the service they sought and someone who would be happy to work with them. To force people who disagree with them to provide the service is an act of hate.
The problem is, the law has evolved so much that the only people who can legally be accused of hate are those who stand up for the truth.
