Why I Detest Red Letter Christian Wolves

Some people wonder why I take on people like “Tomas” (see comments here on “Red Letter Christian Wolves”

post.) Well, let me tell you about it because my ire against such is rooted not only in patriotism, or my faith, but also from personal firsthand experience.

In April 1961, I awoke at dawn to the sound of explosions and gunfire when the “Bay of Pigs” invasion broke out in Cuba. My father was arrested and rounded up in Havana stadium with 100,000 others who were suspected of opposing Fidel Castro. By miraculous providence he was released only to be forced into “public service” at the cost of his thriving architectural business. All of our personal assets were nationalized as well – our home, furniture, money, jewelry, everything. We lived in fear from that day forward.

 

 

 

At five, I was faced with a rifle in my face by Castro’s communist goons. Every day, as I walked into my private Catholic school, bearded militia would steal whatever money or food I had in my book bag. When I finally got tired of it and accused them of STEALING, my protest was met with angry self-justifications in the name of “compassion” for “poor, hungry and exploited little girls all over Cuba!!” Picture a finger raised high in the air, nostrils flaring. Oh Hogwash. So I answered him, “well, now I AM a hungry little girl!” Uh oh. All I did was point out that now he was no better than those he accused. By “exploiting and stealing” from ME, that only made ME a hungry little girl at HIS hands. Well, out came the guns, pointed at my five year old forehead… and if looks could kill, I’d be dead. So much for the politics of “compassion for the chiiiiiildrennn”; its the same old demagoguery that the liberal Democrats use today – I hated it then, and I hate it now. As for that Goon… well, he had to go as hungry as I did from then on. I just made sure I never had money or took food to school ever again. Misery loves company, I guess. (And I’ve been cleaning my full plate clean ever since — to the everlasting gratitude of Weight Watchers! LOL) One other thing I learned was that when people like him are the only ones with guns, they get away with everything from murder to stealing. Guns WORK BOTH WAYS – for evil AND for good (self-defense).

Even at five, Sillie Lizzie was not easily intimidated. Foolish little girl that I was, I was too naive even to be afraid. That may not be altogether a bad thing, even at fifty. After all, resisting tyrants is a dirty job, and somebody has to do it, not just the military troops . I learned that the best defense is a good offense, and the best weapon is truth. When the battle for truth is lost in times of peace, then the guns and bombs start falling, with tragedy to go around for everyone, even if good eventually comes out of it.

But my story doesn’t end with Castro’s goon. After that incident, pro-Castro neighbors taunted us, phone threats came in constantly. Finally, my father pulled the phone out of the wall. My father was “marked” as “anti-government”, his speech monitored, while they waited for him to make a “mistake” and they could justify jailing him. One night, someone attempted to break in and kill my father in his bed, but my father shot first and asked questions later. Lucky for him he missed, and the Goon got away, or our lives would have been radically different than they are today. We left Cuba three months later for Jamaica. Three weeks later, we received our entrance visas, moved to the United States, and to freedom. And that is how the communists stole my country, my childhood and my innocence.

And that’s why I fight for freedom here in the United States, from the same type of goons who call themselves “Americans” and give aid and comfort to foreigners who come here to subvert it. Some even think they are “Christian”, but they disrespect and dishonor the scriptures, and use them to overthrow American heritage, values, and institutions.
