“I only hear bills I like.
I didn’t work this hard to become chairman of this committee to hear bills I don’t like.”
~ Ross Hunter, (D) 48th District (eastburbs)
The results are in.
Ross Hunter, who worked hard for his BS (Yale), has repeatedly proven his hostility to voters, overturning voter-approved restrictions on his ability to raise their taxes at the earliest opportunity, and now demonstrates his hostility to due process and his colleagues in the house. Mr. Hunter clearly believes “public service” means “making the public his servants” and “local control” means “controlling the locals.”

That’s just silly, Doug. You can’t hear every bill.
@Ryan,
Where do you see in this brief post that every bill should be heard?
Do you not realize that the head of a committee is the gatekeeper of virtually all legislation, since bills introduced in the house or senate are referred to committees? Did his constituents expect Mr Hunter to assume the mantle of deciding what legislation is and is not worthy of debate on the single criterion of his personal preference? And will they tolerate it?
