It’s been 27 years since the Republican Party nominated a conservative for President.
Why get involved in the caucus or primary process?

Enough said.

When was the last time Washington State decided the outcome of the Presidential nominee at the Republican National Convention? If the delegate counting is done alphabetically doesn’t the nominee cross the numerical winning threshold well before Washington is polled? If I recall correctly, I can’t remember a National Convention that didn’t suspend rules and nominate by acclamation once the winning threshold was crossed, leaving Washington delegates moot.
The only significance Washington delegates *might* have is voting for, or amending, the National platform.
I don’t get much excited about the Presidential nomination process, or even voting for President, in Washington State. Republicans have not claimed the Washington Electors for more than 20 years, and I see no indicators the Washington Republicans might do so during the remainder of my life.
*Local* campaigns can be different, but the Presidential race has become moot for me. There are only a few States in the Republic that can change the outcome of the Presidential race, and I’ve never heard Washington being one of them, in recent history (last 20 to 30 years).
FreeRange…
If I may offer you a salvation attitude for your forlorn future, it might start with the following quotes as far, far more beautiful and enduring principles by which to approach an election in our once free land!…:
First…
“Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost.” — John Quincy Adams
Second…
“We are not weak if we make a proper use of those means which the God of Nature has placed in our power… the battle, sir, is not to the strong alone – it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.” –Patrick Henry
In the words of the founders and such words of wisdom, how can you go wrong? Cheer up my friend!
By the standard you are suggesting, Mr. Author, the only time a delegation from any State in the Union “changes the outcome” of the nomination is if: 1. the margin if the nominee’s eventual victory is smaller than the number of votes cast for him in that particular State, AND 2. that State’s vote is called out LAST when the candidate’s running total acheives the number necessary for victory.
So, really, all elections are moot for you, F.R.A.! When, by your standard, was the last time your vote decided the result of an election for any public office?
Child molestors in smokey backrooms decide who the nominee is, and this is based on whether or not the democrat incumbent gets 4 more years, or if it’s time to replace the imcumbent with another puppet who will work under “right cover”.
You need the changeover to keep the deception going. Everything the incumbent did that the media sock puppets complained about will continue as before under different titlles and of course the opposing sock puppets will start to complain about it where they were silent before.
The order for the nominee is given from the top down, and the GOP will pull every dirty trick in the book to make sure it gets followed.
When all of this ultimately results in death camps and human lamp shades, these GOP hacks will get their day in Neuremburg.
(you see, we are the good guys, so they will get a trial but I expect we will have to take a while searching the brothels to find their peers)
For the last several decades, an article like this could have been entitled,
“Picking a WA state Congressman”, or,
“Picking a WA state Senator”, or
“Picking a WA state Secretary of State”, or,
“Picking a WA state Attorney General”, or,
now most recently… “Picking a WA state Governor”… !
