It appears Susan Hutchison, Lori Sotelo, and the Washington State Republican Party are, once again, committed to the old GOP/Left tricks of anointing a Liberal Party insider as THE GOP candidate for key offices in 2014, entirely without grass roots involvement.
The latest attempt is listing GOP far-left (Microsoft) multimillionaire Pedro Celis as the only Republican candidate challenging incumbent Democrat Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (1st Congressional District), on the Washington State Republican Party website. Their explanation is that this endorsement is not an endorsement (“simply for information purposes”). In the same vein, this article should not be considered as criticism of the Hutchison or Sotelo administrations but purely for informational purposes.
Clearly the most viable Republican candidate to actually win the 1st Congressional District seat, at this point in history, is Ed Moats. And he announced his candidacy in January to Chairwoman Hutchison and all the 1st District county Chairs (Whatcom, Skagit, Snohomish, and King).
But what Moats clearly doesn’t have is all the cachet that made John McAmnesty so popular with the same crowd (and such a successful candidate for President) − factors Mr. Celis has in abundance: the ability to cross the aisle to co-sponsor Democrat amnesty, environmental, or tax and spend legislation and then obfuscate what he’s done.
Hutchison made every attempt to ignore the Moats candidacy, stating she never received his announcement……..a statement she retracted in March. But even today, the name “Ed Moats” does not appear on the web page. Nevertheless, the name of open borders, pro-Federal Reserve candidate “Pedro Celis” does!
The same holds true in the 3rd Congressional district where Obama-Compromise Incumbent Jamie Hererra Beutler, who faces grass roots fury and serious competition, is listed as the only candidate. To the contrary, that race is a contested primary into which the state party has intervened, literally raising funds for the Obamacare-funding incumbent.
It is a lie. The Reagan Wing predicts that if the Republican Party refuses to entertain challengers to the liberal “chosen candidates” the DEMOCRATS will win both seats. And the Party is actually ceding the 2nd, 6th, 7th and 9th Congressional District seats to the Democrats without running any candidate at all.
No Republican majority can emerge from this kind of leadership.
No Republican majority constructed from such a compendium of “chosen one” oath-breakers, even if they were all to win, could ever change the direction of government.
Ed Moats is a serious candidate for the 1st Congressional District. He has more than twice the applicable government experience and legal expertise as Mr. Celis. He has already barnstormed before Legislative District meetings, Republican Women’s Clubs, and numerous other political and non-political organizations. He also, uniquely, actually stands for Republican political positions. Filing starts this week and Ed will be on the ballot.
Hutchison knows there is more than ONE candidate in both the 1st and 3rd Congressional Districts. Yet, she has made the deliberate choice, not only to refuse the neutrality of an ethical Chair, but to promote liberal candidates over conservatives …..again….. simply for perceived political expediency.
The one exception to this policy is in the 4th CD, where the early, dynamic candidacy of liberty activist Gavin Seim followed by Doc Hastings surprise retirement announcement, resulted in a plethora of Republican candidates, including Clint Didier. Hutchison publicly announced that her office would remain neutral in that traditionally Republican district until after the primary. Some districts are apparently more equal than others. The Republican establishment clearly must have decided they did not have a viable liberal Republican to support in the 4th. Were the leader a GOP/Left insider RINO, he would be the only one listed.
For her part, Lori Sotelo, chairwoman of the King County Republican Party, in another blatant usurpation of authority, refuses to provide the Moats campaign with names and emails of the PCOs in the 1st Congressional District. The Reagan Wing has learned that the Celis campaign has already received that information. Sotelo has no more authority than Hutchison to use Party resources to promote her private personal choice. Indeed, the Celis campaign had access to Republican Party lists months ago, and grassroots Republicans in the 1st CD were outraged by the slick campaign letter they received in March from Pedro.
That an announced Republican candidate for federal office is denied such basic information by a county chairman is outrageous!
These actions by both state and county chairwomen make it clear that nothing has changed in the GOP leadership. And, this leadership must change at the earliest opportunity.
