[Editor's note: The following is a cross-post from (and political accomodation to) Midstream Republicans of Washington and does not represent the opinion of nor meet the publishing standards of the Reagan Wing.]

There are a little more than 24 hours, as I write, to participate in the 2010 Dino Rossi Fashion First Campaign!

This is the eleventh hour and we need you to do two things:

I’m sorry, but I’ve lost my patience! The election is mere days away; the mail-in ballots have already been mailed out; Dino Rossi’s campaign has been making history; and this website hasn’t done anything to promote or even recognize it!! Spackman missed it altogether! I’m as mad as a hatter (or a wet hen) and I don’t care who knows it!

So I got Doug Parris to agree, as he often does when  I lose my patience, to give me the space to do justice, here, to what is, clearly, not just one, but TWO revolutionary moves by my Italian Stallion. Yes.

Two. (more…)

Why do some candidates feel the need to hide what they really believe? Why do some candidates distance themselves from conservatives? I think in part the answer lies in this comment made on Facebook a couple of weeks ago by Erin Aboudara. “Where is the evidence that independent voters, who make up the majority of the electorate in this state, are just itching to vote for Clint Didier or any other conservative candidates.”

My response would be this: where is the evidence that independent voters, who make up  the majority of the electorate in this state, are just itching to support moderate to liberal-leaning republican candidates? (more…)

Dino Rossi Won the Primary!

Many people have emailed me since the primary to have me forward emails to Clint Didier. Some have said that he should immediately endorse Dino Rossi as we have to get rid of Patty Murray. Others have said they understand Clints position about not endorsing Dino. It’s a mixed bag! So I decided that I would write Dino Rossi a letter and see what he had to say about a few issues that were important to me. Below is the letter. It has been 20 days and he has not answered. (more…)

Going without these platform commitments from those we support is why they never come to pass – and never will.

A debate is taking place with many Republican voters concerning my recent conditional endorsement of Dino Rossi.  Rumors abound as to my intentions and objectives. I am receiving both applause and consternation. Therefore, an explanation is in order.

I want Patty Murray to lose in November as much as any Republican. That is exactly why I have chosen the course I have in making a conditional endorsement. I ask that you read all I write in order to more fully understand my heart and my thinking.

Those more heavily involved in Republican Party politics know there are two camps within the GOP.  (more…)

Dino ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... Slade

In 1992, with the help of the Seattle Times, PI, Everett Herald, Newsweek and Time, the Mainstream Republicans were successful in recruiting democrats for Precinct Committee Officers in Snohomish County, Washington for the express purpose of ousting a notorious Central Committee Chairman. His crime: pushing the Party to stand true to its principles and publicly chastising elected politicians who did not.

For years, the GOP had been the minority party—and it appeared the upper end of the party were satisfied to remain that way, as long as they kept their seat at the table. The one message the ousted chairman preached was if the Republicans ever became the majority party, they would not be in a position to lead. (more…)

For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.”

On August 15, 2010 The Reagan Wing published an open letter from State Senator Val Stevens that took “Pastor” Joe Fuiten to task for his email attempt to shore up Dino Rossi’s shrinking pro-life support by obscuring the truth.

Val pointed out numerous misleading statements and falsehoods Fuiten had made, on Rossi’s behalf, to cover up Dino’s vote to force hospitals—private hospitals, Catholic hospitals, ALL hospitals in Washington, in fact—to dispense abortifacient drugs to rape victims under the demonstrably false claim, implicit  in the bill itself (SB 6537), that they only act as contraceptives.

Now Fuiten has fired back with “Joe Fuiten Sets the Record Straight”  and this 2400+ word article is a doozie. (more…)

It is with a sad heart that I must regretfully endorse Patty Murray for US Senate.  I have become familiar with specific criteria during the Senate primary that have led me to conclude that I must support the Front Runner in her re-election bid: (more…)

With Clint Didier’s refusal to endorse Dino Rossi, without concessions, frantic Rossi supporters, realizing that they don’t have anywhere near enough votes to win in the General Election without the help of the Didier Constitutionalists, have been circulating through the blogs, meetups and other social networking sites desperately trying to castigate and shame Didier advocates into supporting and voting for Rossi. With various predictable, shopworn, hackneyed arguments they beat the drums of fear relentlessly. (more…)

It didn’t take long for Dino Rossi to reject Clint Didier’s requirements for his endorsement. Rossi’s spokeswoman, Republican Senatorial Leader Mitch McConnell’s former Press Secretary, Jennifer Morris, issued this statement:

For the last few days Clint Didier has had his team around him working to find a way Dino Rossi can win the US Senate race over leftist Democrat Patty Murray.

UPDATED August 26, 2010 from the email underground:

“Due to high enthusiasm, we’re extending our sign up for our online drawing to win 2 free tickets to dinner with me and Scott Brown.”

From the email underground:
Dino Rossi’s campaign is looking for “Table Captains” for the Scott Brown dinner event on August 31 (7 pm) at Bellevue’s Westin hotel. You can ring Sarah at 425 451 2010 to sign up.
Be ready to fork over $2500 for a table of 10 ($250 per person). That’s the working folks’ price.
“Preferred seating” is going to cost you $1000 per person.
If you want to attend the special photo reception with Senator ["this is my truck"] Brown, you will need $2500.
It gets better.
A special “round table discussion” prior to the dinner will cost working Washingtonian conservatives a cool $10,000.
Just who are these republican supporters who have this kind of money?? Curious grassroots folks want to know.
All of which begs the question, “Why Brown?”

Following is the email Rossi’s campaign sent out yesterday advertising a lottery to win two tickets to the event: (more…)

Careful perusal of Dino Rossi’s public remarks since “entering” the Senate race, as well as his (admittedly meager) campaign mailings, point to only one reasonable conclusion.

Dino has chosen to skip Tuesday’s primary.

The latest Rossi campaign mailing cites “less than 80 days before voters begin to receive their general election ballots in the mail.” Indeed, Rossi has absolutely refused to acknowledge the existence of Tuesday’s primary election for the US Senate seat.

Conservatives considering a vote for Dino  “because he can win” can safely vote their convictions and consciences by casting their votes for Clint Didier, because according to Dino, there is no election on Tuesday, at least not for him.

Val Stevens

from Senator Val Stevens …

Recently, the Clint Didier U.S. Senate campaign released a radio commercial on several Christian radio stations throughout Washington State comparing Clint Didier’s views on abortion with that of Dino Rossi and challenging Dino’s claim that he is pro-life.  This ad has created a firestorm within the Christian community, which, until now, has been mostly unaware of these facts. Never let it be said that I’m unforgiving.

Michele St. Pierre (c) 2010

You’ve all heard people say it and you might believe it yourself. “I like Clint Didier, but I have to vote for Dino Rossi, because he is the only one who can beat Patty Murray.” Really?

With stubborn wrongheadedness, mainstream Republicans cling steadfastly to the belief that only the moderate, not really conservative candidate can win, even though it has proven to be a faulty strategy. The same thing, after all, was said about McCain. On blog after blog, on the radio and on Facebook they keep insisting that Rossi is the only one who can win, as if by chanting it in recitation together their cosmic mantra will somehow make it so.

Rossi made the list of Crew’s Crooked Candidates. Granted, this site is run by admitted progressives, but they do list the reasons for his inclusion and they are troubling. Guilt by association with criminals might not be sufficient to convict him in a court of law, but perceptions by voters DO influence elections. If you look at the left’s websites, they have plenty of dirt ready to sling at Rossi. Wouldn’t it be great to have a candidate who is not so tainted?

Rossi’s appearing at a sales event promoting making money off of foreclosures after declaring his candidacy might not be illegal, but it was certainly tasteless given the suffering of so many in this economic downturn. It plays seamlessly into the “sleazy real estate dealings” accusation.

Jumping in at the last minute and not running a real campaign or engaging the other candidates might be perceived as a clever political strategy. In fact I have seen his hiding out referred to as “expert political gamesmanship” and “he only loses if he engages the other candidates in the primary, so why should he do that?”

Only thing is, ducking and hiding might be praised by politicos but it is not well perceived in the general public, who are certainly more than a little tired of politicking over principles and fluff over substance. (more…)
