Climate has always fluctuated, as Willard admits. The idea that the government has to increase taxes and regulations and suppress economic activity so that the weather will always be the same is a scam that wouldn’t fool a clever 10-year-old.

[We covered much of this ground on Perry earlier, but having the details about Rick Perry close at hand may become important as the  MediaStream/GOPLeft Flavor of the Month menu rotates and  Kelleigh really delivers in the fifth part of her series ~ Doug]

By Kelleigh Nelson

Video, “Gov. Rick Perry’s amazing speech to RLC 2011″ at TheRightScoop.com

James Richard “Rick” Perry assumed the governorship of Texas in 2000 when he took over from George W. Bush, who resigned to take the oath of office of President.  He holds all records for Texas gubernatorial tenure.   Perry has the distinction of being the only governor in modern Texas history to have appointed at least one person to every possible state office, board, or commission position which requires gubernatorial appointment (as well as to several elected offices to which the governor can appoint someone to fill an unexpired term, such as six of the nine current members of the Texas Supreme Court). National Review asks the question, “What do GOP presidential contenders think of the Paul Ryan budget plan?” then provides revealing quotes, with links. (Ed. note: if you check National Review Online, scroll down to find what we’re writing about waaaay at the bottom on the left . . . ) Each one is less than 20 words. Sound bite territory. The juxtaposition is instructive.

And crucial.

Lori Sotelo

by Karen McCall, PCO

[From the email underground, this  letter to Lori Sotelo came to The Reagan Wing as a comment to another article.]

Dear Lori Sotelo,

My name is Karen McCall – PCO in the 31st District. I have been a PCO for over 20 years. I am very unhappy with what has happened during this election time. According to the KCGOP PDC reports, the State Senate Caucus passed through the KCGOP $115,000.00. You gave the money to four Republican State Senate Candidates who had never been elected before including $33,000.00 to Steve Litzow in the 41st District.

Another pro-death Catholic

Steve Litzow was endorsed by, and sits on the board of, the Washington State National Abortion Rights Action League Political Action Committee. As you well know, NARAL is radically fanatic about abortion on demand, anywhere, anytime, anyplace, taxpayer funding, no parental notification, on and on ad nauseum. They go against everything we stand for as Republicans.

Mainstream Republicans of Washington has lost the name of their challenger to Pam Roach’s Senate seat, but as of this morning, they don’t know why. They have not announced that the endorsement, itself, is withdrawn, nor whether, if it is withdrawn, they will continue to support him quietly.

Contacted this morning, in his fortress of solitude high atop the Mainstream Building in metropolitan Kennewick (we believe),

Kennewick

Mainstream Executive Director Alex Hays didn’t want to say anything about the reasons for the withdrawal of the Mainstream candidate’s name until he had talked with Matt Richardson.

“I don’t want to say anything until I’ve talked with Matt Richardson,” said Hays, and he would not say what it was that he wanted to talk to Richardson about. (more…)

As you peruse the website of “Mainstream Republicans of Washington” you’ll notice the repetitive use of the term “moderate” to describe themselves. Do they mean “lukewarm”?

Val Stevens

from Senator Val Stevens …

Recently, the Clint Didier U.S. Senate campaign released a radio commercial on several Christian radio stations throughout Washington State comparing Clint Didier’s views on abortion with that of Dino Rossi and challenging Dino’s claim that he is pro-life.  This ad has created a firestorm within the Christian community, which, until now, has been mostly unaware of these facts. From Washington Life Coalition

Dino Rossi, one of the challengers to Democrat incumbent Patty Murray, is widely believed to be “pro-life” and “opposed to abortion”.

It’s time we examined the veracity of that rumor.

What many pro-life voters may not realize, is that Dino Rossi, in his two runs for governor, never received the endorsement of Human Life of Washington, the only pro-life organization in Washington state that surveys (in writing) all candidates for state and federal offices on the issue of abortion.  The same is true this year as Dino seeks a spot on the general election ballot to challenge Patty Murray:  He has not received the Human Life endorsement.  In fact, Human Life of Washington issued a dual endorsement in the U.S.Senate race to: Paul Akers and Clint Didier, having both met the criteria.  (Endorsements have not yet been listed on Human Life of Washington’s website, but the press release went out recently).

Human Life of Washington does not endorse candidates who support legalized abortion, even in the hard cases of rape and incest.  Dino Rossi believes abortion should be legal in cases of rape and incest. (more…)

Under Healthcare in the issues section of his website we find that nationalized health care is  perfectly  OK with Dino—it is just that the recently passed version needs to be refined. “We need to repeal the parts of this bill which hurt access  to  and coverage  for  quality affordable health care, and replace it with common - sense bipartisan proposals.”

So it is not the concept, but the execution that is flawed.

"I'm thinking, I'm thinking"

However, on Sunday, Mr Rossi stated a  different position. Speaking to the Puget Sound Conservative Underground Sunday afternoon, Rossi said the Reid-Pelosi-Obama-Romney health care  act needed to be repealed. To what can we attribute Rossi’s alleged change of position? Might it be that he was speaking to a conservative audience instead of to the  Evans-Gorton wing of the Washington State Republican party?  A questioner pointed out the discrepancy between what  Mr Rossi said and his website and asked him what his position really is—repeal the bill or repeal only parts and replace with bipartisan proposals? “It needs to be repealed and we need to fix the website.”  As of noon Monday, Rossi’s website tells us the current bill only needs a bit of tweaking.

So what is Dino’s position?

Another SINGLE question put to both candidates. Another breathtaking contrast. Dino Rossi simply refused to answer the question, but took more time by greater than a factor of THREE to obfuscate. Clint Didier cut, quickly, to the heart of the matter, was as uncompromising as Rossi was evasive and, further, expanded the scope of the question to Supreme Court consideration. (more…)

This question expanded the continuing pattern each candidate had established, early on, during the forum. Rossi habitually deferred to answer the question, instead commenting, with safe statements on the general topic. Didier, invariably, answered the question directly.

Dino Rossi made the mistake of appearing in public, at the Washington State Convention. Let’s hope he learned his lesson. Whenever a “grassroots” candidate appears in public he is in grave danger of having to answer questions and, surrounded by reporters, Dino fell into the trap. What a mess. Isn’t he listening to his handlers? (more…)

The remaining republican challengers of Patty Murray’s senate seat comment on  state and national GOP efforts to add Dino Rossi to the lineup.

The best Senate field in history: Akers, Benton, Coday, Didier, T.B.A., Salazar, Williams

[Chris Widener left the race on April 23; Rodney Rieger recently told a meeting of the 38th District Republicans that with Patty Murray's senate seat well covered by [conservative] challengers, he would end his bid for her seat and instead run in the 38th District against his own state senator, Jean Berkey, since she was running unopposed. “Will he or won’t he?”  is the question a lot of potential money donors are wanting answered.

So, is Dino Rossi going to run against Patty Murray?

Before I say anything else I do not think the other candidates are dwarfs. The king of the Democrats in the state of Washington, Dwight Pelz, was quoted Friday in a story posted on king5.com, calling the other the seven candidates dwarfs. Senator John Cornyn of Texas, who heads the National Republican Senatorial Committee, might as well have said the same thing, because that’s apparently how he sees the other candidates. (more…)

Saturday afternoon, The Reagan Wing held an exclusive interview with former Washington Senate Candidate Chris Widener, specifically to learn how he had determined “the three leading candidates” in the race.
