Not Lucy, but a cousin.

Not Lucy, but a cousin.

Little Alice had made a place in her heart for Lucy, her pet snail. Lucy was the first and most beloved of Alice’s changing stable of racing snails. She spoke of them often and had traded with other Snail trainers (aged, I guess, three to nine) in the neighborhood. I even have an aerial photo of one of their races. But regardless of her speed, as I said, Lucy was special.

I was at Alice’s house today when she let “Lucy” out for a “walk” on the front lawn.

mitt log cabinNational Convention Welcomes Gay Romney Activist Speaker

Excerpts, below are from a News Release from the Chairman of the RLC immediately prior to the  RLC National Convention in Austin, Texas.

rlc-newsreleaseAUSTIN, TX – The Republican Liberty Caucus joins grassroots Republicans across the state in expressing concern and dismay over the negative example being set by the Harris County Republican Party in their recent rejection of Christopher Busby as an applicant for Precinct Chair. At a time when the party nationwide is working to clean a tarnished image and embrace inclusiveness, for the second largest county party in the nation to reject a qualified applicant solely because he is openly gay sends exactly the wrong message to the constituencies the party needs to reach… (more…)

Substantial portions of the following were originally published in 2009.

Anti-Christian bigotry is becoming a central strategy of American Totalitarians.

And the key is a propaganda technique that is as dishonest as can be. It consists in the intentional misdefinition of the words “Right” and “Left.”

“Right” actually means toward freedom.

“Left” actually means toward Government Control.

Heavily biased Seattle media want you to believe the opposite. And direct experience shows that their propaganda has been successful. (more…)

“Marriage Equality” is perhaps the most convoluted canard of our time.  Underneath the hood of the homosexual revolution churn the most serious avoidable health problems of our time.

The majority of our most dangerous sexual diseases emanate from the homosexual revolution and are transmitted to wives, infants, children, and men by LBGTQ individuals who are most often bisexual. (more…)

I was at the corner grocery store buying some early potatoes… I noticed a small boy, delicate of bone and feature, ragged but clean, hungrily appraising a basket of freshly picked green peas.

I paid for my potatoes but was also drawn to the display of fresh green peas. I am a pushover for creamed peas and new potatoes.

Pondering the peas, I couldn’t help overhearing the conversation between Mr. Miller (the store owner) and the ragged boy next to me.

Cowardice: A mother and her daughter under the threat of state bullies and kidnappers

FBI is after Lisa Miller and her daughter Isabella. At any time, they may be captured. At any time, Isabella may be kidnapped by the FBI and her mother arrested.

By Julio Severo

Rev. Miller

Rev. Timothy David “Timo” Miller used to be a courageous man — even a man of God. But when he saw prison bars and dark legal prospects, he changed his mind: He made a deal with federal prosecutors. No one knows exactly what this deal is, but prosecutors are pleased.

His case is disturbing: He was arrested last spring when he returned to the United States from Nicaragua, where he worked as a missionary. He was charged with helping Lisa Miller, who is no relation to him, flee the United States with Isabella, her 9-year-old daughter. (more…)

You remember Wayne, don’t you? We last talked about Wayne last month, near the end of his life, in the article “Love and its Substitutes.”  We talked about his disastrous relationships with women that in the end turned out more disastrous for the women that they did for Wayne.

I take that back. (more…)

I. The idea was a derivative of the ideal.

Kirin was captivated by Janelle’s turn of phrase, the twist of her wrist to isolate the right key from the chain.

He was defenseless in the presence of her beauty. He knew, instinctively, he was not worthy of it.

True story from a Kansas State Highway Patrol officer:

I made a traffic stop on an elderly lady the other day for speeding on U.S. 166 Eastbound at Mile Marker 73 just East of Sedan, KS.

I asked for her driver’s license, registration, and proof of insurance. The lady took out the required information and handed it to me. In with the cards I was somewhat surprised (due to her advanced age) to see she had a conceal carry permit. I looked at her and ask if she had a weapon in her possession at this time. (more…)

Brazilian newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo has reported, in a 30 August article, that the US government is interested in Bolsa Família, a populist family-fund program from the Brazilian government that provides cash to millions of Brazilians. Russlynn Ali, Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights at the Department of Education, said that her country is also interested in the Statute of Racial Equality in Brazil.

What could America, or more specifically Obama and his party, gain through Bolsa Família?

Parent’s Rights and
the SB 48 “Anti-Bullying” law

By now you may have heard about SB 48, the new “anti-bullying” bill that is actually no anti-bullying bill at all, but rather LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) indoctrination for children as young as Kindergarten. This bill would actually require public schools, including Charter schools, to include positive discussions of the sexual orientations of transgender, bisexual and gay Americans in all social science courses – and yes, as early as Kindergarten.

This bill has already passed both houses of the California legislature and has been signed by Governor Jerry Brown. But after SB 48 was signed into law, the Pacific Justice Institute, along with several other pro-family organizations, worked quickly behind the scenes to launch the referendum – which is a “People’s Veto”. Papers were filed with the California Attorney General’s Office and voters now have a chance to directly repeal SB 48. But we need to move fast!

Brad Dacus President,
Pacific Justice Institute

“Please join with us to continue the fight to
protect religious freedom
for you, your church,
and your family.”

From Johnathan B at Abortion in Washington:

Parents Frustrated By Lack of Answers on Seattle Schools’ Secret Abortion System

As the Seattle City Council considers doubling the Education Levy used to fund in-school “health clinics”, they are coming under fire from parents and activists for continuing to undermine parental authority because of their role in secretly putting girls on birth control and even helping setup abortions behind the parents’ backs.

Some critics have even called the clinics the first station in an “underground railroad from hell” where the last stop is one of Seattle’s unregulated abortion mills. (more…)

The basis of the American Financial system is no longer the production of tangible goods and services. We have the gambling casino of the Stock Market, which is no longer based on the fundamentals of a company, but rather a cultish computer controlled chartism. We have the buying and selling of various repackaged debt instruments and derivatives which have lost all ties to reality. We don’t have Capitalism. We don’t have Communism. We have Fraudulism. We are seeing massive institutionalized fraud on a global scale.

Just like a major earthquake is sometimes preceded by tiny tremors, or cracks may appear in a once mighty dam before it breaks, the sleeping people of the United States of America are seeing shafts of light through the window shades of ignorance.

While browsing the forums like the blogaholic I am, I was particularly drawn to certain stories, which to me are the bellwethers of things to come.

CandleOne was the story of Texas power shortages during the recent cold snap. I was reading people’s reactions noting an underlying thread of outrage that such a thing could happen in America. What were we? Some kind of third world country? Heads should roll. Imagine, rolling blackouts for as much as an hour at a time. In America! Is Atlas Shrugging? No, surely it was just some misunderstanding, some SNAFU, some bureaucratic foul up, some politician’s bat-crazy legislative error. It couldn’t be that there really isn’t quite enough energy to go around, after decades of ignoring the necessity to address our dependence on this basic necessity and where it originates.
