This week in federal court, Rob McKenna’s team of attorneys are arguing that a grocery store in Olympia must sell the abortion drug (morning-after pill) despite the store owner’s Christian-based pro-life beliefs.

Kevin Stormans, owner of Ralph’s Thriftway, says he and his employees oppose abortion and will not stock the morning-after pill. Stormans acknowledges that his store may lose customers because of his value-based decision. [Ed. note: Storman's ordeal began four years ago.]

“All our family wants is the chance to keep doing what Ralph’s Thriftway has done for four generations: to serve our customers in keeping with our deepest values,” says Stormans.                  (Olympian, 11/27) (more…)

ABORTION IN WASHINGTON:

It’s been predicted for years now that AG Rob McKenna (R) was planning to run for governor. He’s a Catholic and a Republican. He’s also “pro-choice”. His support for abortion is usually painted as support for women. After all, dead babies don’t vote or contribute funds to political campaigns.

My in-box received several notices this week of an impending announcement that he would run for governor. And now the shoe has droppedRob McKenna has abandoned his Catholic faith for political power. As reported to me by one of his old Eagle Scout friends, Rob used to sit around the campfire and plot out his rise to power. The ultimate goal: POTUS.
It’s time for the women of Washington state to tell Rob McKenna abortion is bad for women and we won’t vote for or contribute funds to anyone who thinks otherwise.

Morris

It didn’t take long for Dino Rossi to reject Clint Didier’s requirements for his endorsement. Rossi’s spokeswoman, Republican Senatorial Leader Mitch McConnell’s former Press Secretary, Jennifer Morris, issued this statement:

The Washington Life Coalition (WLC) released a brand new internet video today to appeal to pro-life voters in the state of Washington who have been led to believe they should support Dino Rossi in his bid for U.S. Senate.  The video chronicles some of Rossi’s statements on the issue of abortion, and then reveals an egregious vote that Rossi cast as a state senator, overlooked by the pro-life movement in Washington.  The news of this vote calls into question Rossi on an issue he refers to as “a matter of conscience.”

In 2002, Dino Rossi voted for SB 6537 which forces hospitals to promote “emergency contraception” to rape victims and provide it upon request within 72 hours of sexual contact.  Emergency contraception, also known as ”the morning after pill,” causes an abortion if the woman is pregnant.  The bill passed and is now the law in WA state.  Physicians, nurses and health care workers in hospital emergency rooms are forced to act against their conscience, which is formed by their professional training as well as their moral, ethical and religious views.

WLC is a coalition of pro-life activists who are concerned with electing representatives in government who will uphold the unalienable rights of all: the rights to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.  WLC encourages pro-life voters to take a close look at the other candidates in the U.S. Senate race, as well as with all races for public office, to find person(s) with the will to advance the cause of restoring these unalienable rights for all.

From Washington Life Coalition

Dino Rossi, one of the challengers to Democrat incumbent Patty Murray, is widely believed to be “pro-life” and “opposed to abortion”.

It’s time we examined the veracity of that rumor.

What many pro-life voters may not realize, is that Dino Rossi, in his two runs for governor, never received the endorsement of Human Life of Washington, the only pro-life organization in Washington state that surveys (in writing) all candidates for state and federal offices on the issue of abortion.  The same is true this year as Dino seeks a spot on the general election ballot to challenge Patty Murray:  He has not received the Human Life endorsement.  In fact, Human Life of Washington issued a dual endorsement in the U.S.Senate race to: Paul Akers and Clint Didier, having both met the criteria.  (Endorsements have not yet been listed on Human Life of Washington’s website, but the press release went out recently).

Human Life of Washington does not endorse candidates who support legalized abortion, even in the hard cases of rape and incest.  Dino Rossi believes abortion should be legal in cases of rape and incest. (more…)

two presidents

HANOVER, Penn., Sept. 17 /CNW/ — Tradition Family Property Student Action launched an online petition yesterday urging Fr. John I. Jenkins, president of Notre Dame, to drop trespassing charges levied against eighty-eight pro-life advocates who entered university property during the 2009 commencement address of President Obama.

Among those arrested are Ambassador Alan Keyes, Fr. Norman Weslin, and Norma McCorvey.

If Notre Dame does not drop the charges, the pro-life advocates face up to one year in jail. “As the original complainant,” the petition reads, “Notre Dame has the choice to drop the charges.” (more…)
