As you peruse the website of “Mainstream Republicans of Washington” you’ll notice the repetitive use of the term “moderate” to describe themselves. Do they mean “lukewarm”?
If the terms “freedom” describes conservatism and “government-control” describes liberalism (and they do) then “flexible” describes moderates’ politics and “unprincipled” describes their philosophy. For when the Democrats put forward any new expansion of government, any new tax scheme, any new counterproductive entitlement to punish achievers, “moderate” Republicans will, invariably, adopt the Democrat operating assumptions, propose watered-down alternatives, compromise away the Republican bargaining position and reach cross the aisle in a “nonpartisan” fashion, voting away our rights and our incomes.
“Progressive Lite.” Less filling, Sounds great.
The one thing they are NOT, in the Republican Party at least, is “mainstream.” They match up pretty well with the “mainstream media,” however, and have been able to leverage that advantage into several successful runs for public office. But sometimes they get way ahead of themselves.
In Washington’s 31st District a thorn in their side for decades has been State Senator Pam Roach, a consistent pro-Life vote. They’d love to be rid of her. If you’ve heard a negative charge against or rumor about Pam, you can pretty safely bet it was concocted by the GOP Left.
NOW THEY HAVE A “MAINSTREAM” CHAMPION! A “Pam remover” running for her Senate seat that actually (with Mainstream help) got past the Primary and will face her in the General Election. (Yep, the top two primary gave voters two candidates labeled “republican.”) His hope of election is to pull all the Democrat votes and the “soft” Republicans in what Roach has made a solid Republican district.
I met him at the State Convention and it became quickly clear who he represented. There was no false claim ever circulated about Pam Roach he failed to repeat as gospel. Tall, good looking, well spoken, he looked like a formidable adversary. But you can’t tell everything about someone by looking at them. And Matt Richardson turns out to have a past as dark as his politics.
(Excerpted from: http://www.washingtonmainstream.org/Blog.php?n=54)
Matt has snagged the endorsement of the “Mainstreamers,” and they have snagged themselves an admitted/convicted sex offender posterboy. [Although he was allowed by the court to petition for dismissal.] Somewhere, beginning in his early teens and continuing til he was 16, according to prosecutors, Richardson repeatedly raped and molested his cousins, ignoring their pleas and tears. At the time they were little girls between the ages of five and eight.
Amongst other notable achievements, Richardson, a sitting Sumner City councilman, can count being the only candidate in state history to be forced to remove false information from his statement for the state voters pamphlet, a history of domestic violence, including giving his teenage daughter a black eye, pleading guilty to a sex crime, misusing public email , and lying on his PDC filing.
Personal conversations with reporters and editors at the Bonney Lake Courier Herald confirm that the paper did not provide any in-kind donation to Richardson’s campaign—indeed the company says it never provides such to candidates—but they have not published this information. The paper has not published anything negative about Matt Richardson, although other papers in the Sound Publishing family have published various parts of the Richardson story. Why won’t the Bonney Lake Courier Herald touch the story?
Richardson filed an amended C4 (https://thereaganwing.files.wordpress.com/2010/08/pdcc4.jpg) with the PDC on August 3, 2010 in which he scratched out “Bonney Lake Courier Herald” and inserted his own name and address. Which raises another question. Does the PDC have the authority to audit the paper’s records to verify that Mr Richardson did indeed pay for that newspaper ad? Or to require Mr Richardson to show evidence, by canceled check or cash receipt that he paid for that ad? To date Richardson has contributed $5974.94 in Fair Market Value “mailers, postage, handling” to his own campaign. (https://thereaganwing.files.wordpress.com/2010/08/pdc-c4-2.jpg) Receipts?
And the WSRP, KCGOP, and Pierce County Republican Party leadership say absolutely nothing to expose or disavow Matt Richardson, as a Republican candidate! Why do establishment republicans allow someone like Matt Richardson to use their logos? Why haven’t they denounced him? Why the tacit and overt approval of him? The sexual assault charges have been public record for decades.
This is a man with a history of restraining orders preventing him from unsupervised contact with two of his female cousins. (Their mother said in a police statement she could only hope their youngest sister, then 2, had not [also] “been raped by Richardson”). This is a man who was forced to resign from the Federal Way public school district in April 2006 under allegations of harassment from students and was not given another position in the district. This is a man who has a history of being dismissed or forced to resign from classrooms and other positions in schools and took legal steps to seal the records.
The stack of police reports, restraining orders, and court documents relating to Mr Richardson’s threatening, violent, unethical, and disgusting behavior is more than half an inch thick.
And the leadership of Mainstream Republicans of Washington, Pierce County Republicans and the Mainstream-friendly WSRP and KCGOP, apparently think that’s perfectly OK…
