I was astonished at the vision, but none understood it.”
And there was another, more unlikely choice, in 2008, that could have led the Party to reconstruction after the Coalition’s breakup.
One of those two options would have had to have been taken to avert self-destruction. In retrospect, neither now seems to have been even remotely possible.
They were possible, of course, but not given the mindset of the GOP leadership both nationally and in Washington State, or the willingness of the base to accept that leadership. We had set a course for disaster.
Our direction as a political party was incompatible with conservatism and this was invisible to both the sheep who followed and the goats who led and that is astonishing to me.
And I will bring the land into desolation: and your enemies which dwell therein shall be astonished at it.”
By 1984 the nation had been given back its pride and its industry. The primary economic problem, inertia, had been overcome and the most important asset, momentum, recovered. By the end of the decade we had undergone the greatest peacetime expansion of any economy in modern history, and were the sole remaining superpower.
All this has been lost through the power of lies.
And at this house, which is high, every one that passeth by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss; and they shall say, Why hath the LORD done thus unto this land, and to this house?”
The American Middle Dwellers, unfortunately, are pragmatists. They want to go with what “works.” Without philosophical anchor, they drift back and forth between two Parties seeking, always, their own self-interest. They do not occupy political opinions somewhere central on a scale between Socialist Statism (the left) and Freedom (the right). They have no fixed principles. They become convinced of the vision of Ronald Reagan. It works. They become disillusioned with the policies of George Bush. They don’t work. They try, seriatim, political answers based on the marketing packages of each, weighing the supposed “intent” of politicians. They look to politicians. The politicians like to be looked to.
Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin: That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt! Therefore shall the strength of Pharaoh be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your confusion.
And so, by degrees, we have enacted the aspirations of the leaders, the politicians, the successful ones, the politically “wise” in their generation. And so the ownership and day-to-day control of things by government has grown 500% in contrast to the ownership and direct control of things by the people. The politicians “understand” the workings of government, manipulate the mechanisms of democratic elections and own the country. The bankers “understand” the workings of the monetary system, manipulate the finance of institutions and own the politicians.
This was NOT inevitable.
And it shall come to pass at that day, saith the LORD, that the heart of the king shall perish, and the heart of the princes; and the priests shall be astonished, and the prophets shall wonder.
It has been suggested that President Obama waited in breathless anticipation of losing both the House and Senate to the Republicans in the mid-terms so he could run against them in 2012 and blame them for the failures of the economy. Correspondingly, John Boehner, addressing the new Republican control of (only) the House, announced, in direct contradiction of the Constitution, “the President sets the agenda.”
“…be thou our ruler, and let this ruin be under thy hand…”
The Whore’s contrivances derailed
The scams unhinged, the markets failed…
The nation now faces economic ruin and the political class is clueless as to its diagnosis and cure, though the answers are available and not difficult to understand.
Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, behold, I will break the staff of bread in Jerusalem: and they shall eat bread by weight, and with care; and they shall drink water by measure, and with astonishment…”
Election night I went to Heidi Munson’s election watch party. She had committed to run for the State Legislature, without campaign experience or financing, and began speaking, all because she understood the crisis America is in and what to do about it…
And depended on God.
She attracted the help of a campaign manager who, without campaign experience or compensation began simultaneously 1, learning how to run a campaign and 2, running a campaign; and they waved campaign signs, knocked on doors and spread Heidi’s message. The leadership of the Snohomish County Republican Party, despite gaping holes in their lineup for the State Legislature (offices for which they fielded no candidate) recruited, from their own ranks, a high-ranking member of the state McCain team to run against Heidi. Under IRS criminal investigation, he declined to file.
As of 6:28 PM yesterday, with more than 30,000 votes cast, Heidi was leading her race by 392 votes.
And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.”
And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they are a rebellious house,) yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them.”
The true sun has begun to move across the sky and we are young in the century. The world has not yet seen what we can do.
