Michele St. Pierre (c) 2012
It was 2008 and the political stakes were high. Although McCain had won the Primary in Washington State, the results of the caucuses and subsequent County Conventions (where half the delegates for the Presidential nomination would come from) were quite dicey. An ominous storm had been brewing, filling the GOP Mainstream Establishment with fear and angst. The storm was called Ron Paul and the GOP began to prepare big time, launching into a plethora of dirty tricks and behind the scenes underhanded maneuvering, as they manipulated the political process through cheating and lawbreaking to ensure they would bring home the nomination for John McCain.
They were not entirely sure whether the Ron Paul delegates had a majority. But, if Ron Paul secured the 20 available delegates from Washington State, it would be a huge black eye in the face of the McCain campaign.
THE McCAIN CAMPAIGN PLANTS THE SEEDS OF HATE
This campaign of hate against Ron Paul’s supporters has been well documented on The ReaganWing. Using tactics reminiscent of ethnic cleansing, race warfare, and fascism (the Star of David technique) the GOP managed to vanquish the Ron Paul delegates, who only had slightly less than a majority on the floor of the State Convention, by spreading lies and negative propaganda about them and their candidate throughout the GOP, convincing many ignorant people that these good Constitutional Conservatives were somehow a bunch of drug-taking, white supremacist libertines.
The terrible thing about unleashing a tide of hate is that once released it has a tendency to become a flood which consumes the unwary, becoming a part of who they are. A mob mentality arises, bringing out the worst side of human nature. From this political ploy, coldly calculated and played out for political gain, by leaders for whom hate and destruction are a mere game, GOP minions began to internalize and promote more and more hate against anyone who supported or said anything good about Dr. Paul.
When Ron Paul supporters tried to volunteer or help at GOP events, they were treated badly, ridiculed, and demeaned. Then when they gave up, the snide remarks began, “those Ron Paul people never volunteer for anything.”
If a Ron Paul supporter made a motion at a meeting, any motion, no matter how worthy they heard: “they’re just trying to disrupt the meeting and make it take longer.”
If a Ron Paul supporter ran for any office in the Republican Party, the response was: “they’re just trying to take over the party and turn it into the Libertarian Party.”
If a Ron Paul supporter donated to the GOP, “they’re just trying to pretend they’re Republicans, they aren’t really Republicans.”
If a Ron Paul supporter requests a vote tally or asks to observe a vote count , “Why would they want to do that, they just don’t trust real Republicans, that’s just dilatory. We never do it that way and they just don’t understand the system.”
THE ROMNEY CAMPAIGN JUMPS ON THE HATE TRAIN
The Romney Campaign, containing the same liberal establishment GOP main streamers who ran the McCain campaign, are hard at work on the same program, basing their whole approach around the Unity Slate, the purpose of which is to drum up hatred of anything Ron Paul. “We have to unite against the Ron Paul supporters – they are the real enemy!” Rick Santorum was to be sacrificed on this altar, but then no sacrifice is too large if it somehow screws the terrible, awful Ron Paul supporters, right?
A few Santorum supporters (after hearing from Santorum himself) began to break ranks, as they saw THEIR campaign had been infiltrated by Romney supporters who were selling Santorum out. After working with the Ron Paul people and finding out how honest and trustworthy they are, they are beginning to understand the ESTABLISHMENT BIG LIE. They are also beginning to recognize that there is a corrupt and dishonest portion of the Republican Party that needs to be expunged and are willing to join with other Constitutional Conservatives to do just that.
I was on a joint conference call where one of the Santorum Leadership said that he had seen people in the throes of what he called, “Ron Paul Derangement Syndrome,” – people who have lost any ability to think rationally about Ron Paul supporters, because they are so consumed with hate. He hadn’t really known there was such a thing but upon attending Washington State County Conventions, he now sees how prevalent it is.
Makes it a little scary to think of the Romney “dirty tricks” hate club running the country, doesn’t it?
ALL BECAUSE OF A CHEAP POLITICAL PLOY
Any thinking person with a heart and soul should reject such blanket demonizing of a group of people whose only crime is to support a Constitutional Conservative Republican Candidate. If they are any sort of human being at all, they would recognize that the formation of Ron Paul “Hate Groups” on Facebook and elsewhere is sick and demented and only serves to divide and destroy the Republican Party, by disenfranchising the huge Liberty/Constitutionalist movement, which, after all, is only concerned with saving the Republic from Socialists and Big Government spenders on both sides of the aisle.
The Party Leaders that fomented this strategy of hate know that it was based on lies and was merely a political ploy. Unfortunately the brainwashed minions don’t yet understand how they were used. It is a hard thing to remove hatred from someone’s heart after it has been deliberately planted there, because once they understand what was done to them, they must admit they were wrong and do penance, which requires some soul searching. Sometimes they are happier and it’s just easier wallowing in the HATE.
DID THE ESTABLISHMENT GO OVERBOARD?
Is it possible to carry the “hate” strategy too far? What if people begin to see it for what it is?
At the Snohomish County Convention, the Santorum supporters were just beginning to understand how the corrupt establishment went about trying to destroy their candidate from within. Many still could not believe it and voted for the Unity Slate, unable to shake off the implanted hate, even while Ron Paul supporters honored the deal made with Rick Santorum and voted them in as delegates, while losing themselves. With the awakening of the Rick Santorum supporters to Party Corruption, there could be a new day dawning for the Republican Party.
PASSIONATE IS “SCARY”
I was told at the Snohomish Legislative District Caucus by a Santorum supporter that I was “so passionate, I scared people.” Scared? They should be terrified! Their country is being destroyed right in front of them. The Constitution is completely ignored. Their freedom is being shredded, along with their wealth, but they don’t want anyone to get “passionate” about saving the country? The “go along to get along” mentality that has permeated the GOP is what terrifies me.
