In the hands of Midstream Republicans the fortunes of the Washington State Republican Party have gotten worser and worser. And at periodic low points (like 1992, 1996, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, and 2012) Party Bosses predictably regroup, post-election, to contemplate their navel, blame conservatives, paint a happy face on their own performance, conclude that they must move even further left, and promise that under their leadership success is just around the corner .
It always happens.
Any seasoned Washington State Conservative could simply read the list of speakers to know that the Roanoke Conference had planned just such a series of meditations in disingenuous Republican liberalism for the Ocean Shores Convention Center the weekend of Jan. 25–27. Fans of that movement could not have been disappointed.
What have they been smoking?
America’s Founders did not have overwhelming faith in “democracy,” as the solution to the tyranny they had been experiencing at the hand of the King of England. They established extensive safeguards by a Constitutional scheme that protected Freedom…
… from all government…
…even “democratic” government.
So… in the American Constitutional scheme politicians are, in effect, the “teenagers” and the voters are the “parents.” The founders hoped (and prayed) that the parents, because they had the authority, would develop the vision and strength to exercise control over the teens. It was feared they would not.
Now, a couple hundred years later, we all know that the teenagers in Washington DC have a terminal spending problem. They spend every dime they get on every toy and vast quantities of junk food for themselves, treat their friends, and even borrow money from their friends (like China) to treat their friends to more goodies and then, of course, go to mom and dad (the taxpayers) to make up the difference.
And we know that this has gone so far as to put mom and dad into financial desperation. Massive unemployment, private debt, foreclosures, and a special federal government Valentine of $16,499,642,597,554.96 indebtedness (as of 7AM Feb 14, 2013).
Nevertheless, teenage Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler kicked off the the Roanoke Conference by calling – with Barack Obama – for raising the teenagers’ allowance. “It was the right thing to do,” she said. It certainly was what the teenagers wanted. “…I wanted the opportunity to say to the president that I met you halfway,” she continued.

Violating their oaths of office to meet communists half way is what the Republican Left has been doing for a generation.
The conference went downhill from there.
Here’s what the ancient radical left Republican icon had to say about it on the Roanoke website:
Although the date (probably inserted by his transcriber) is about 30 years off, Slade is quite correct. The pro-abortion, gay rights, anti-constitutional, Agenda 21, anti-liberty, tax and spend, lawless, Mainstream Republicans of Washington wing of the Party did succeed (starting in about 1956 by the leadership of the men Slade names), through mugwump State Party Chairs, in putting a Socialist face on the Republican Party for more than forty years. They did it by electing candidates. Those candidates got Republican votes by being Republican in name. They got Democrat votes by being socialist in philosophy. It quit working, by and large in 2000 AD because too many people could get the truth unfiltered by the liberal media.
Roanoke was their latest attempt to recharge that movement. The second annual participation in that conference by State Party Chair Kirby Wilbur is a conclusive confirmation that there will be nothing in the GOP for the next two years but internal struggle… a life and death internal struggle between our Royalty… the Socialist Lite pragmatists that have dominated us for forty years (and to whom Wilbur has succumbed) and the rising Liberty movement. Between the prescription for total defeat the Left promises or a return to the foundation principles of the Republic. Are you ready?
