[Ed. note: We are aware that Doug Parris spent many hours distilling the text of his speech (below) from his experience, for what he believed was a rare opportunity in the Washington State RLC (as we have already published). Following that conference, the expressions of the outstanding legislators (Five is Company) and his own speech, Doug sensed, in both the theme of Matt Dubin’s presentation and the rising participation of one of the GOP Establishment’s key operatives (Dani Bolyard) that the RLC’s opportunity was in danger. (Those concerns have been echoed recently by many over the news that Lori Sotelo is a member of the RLC.)
During the period after the Kickoff, but before the Convention – Doug felt that the RLC’s great promise might be about to pass, unfulfilled, and he had a deep sense of foreboding. At a meeting entirely unrelated to those events, he was inspired to write a dedication of the video of his RLC Kickoff speech video as though it was meant for a movement yet to be revealed, and penned it (with real, archaic ink) on two small (slightly used) paper plates. We present that dedication here by way of an introduction.]
[The preceding, as with much GOP history, now recorded instead of only verbal, is due to the work, unbidden and at his own expense, of filmmaker George Abrantes.]
This is dedicated to you
The children of the next phase
To you who will not find sustenance except in the R3VOLUTION
Who will leave behind jobs and houses and lives and siblings
Sacrificing everything for that which is much greater.
We salute you here, from the past, from cheap struggles and hard lessons.
But it is You who will call down the deeper magic
You who will see through the sham and usher in
