Editor’s introduction: The Silmarillion is J.R.R. Tolkien’s history, in five parts, of the First Age of Middle-Earth – essential background material for readers of the Lord of the Rings saga. We’ve appropriated its title and format for similar purposes in our current series, continuing the Lord of the Rings metaphor that has – eerily – become a living allegory for the GOP and its relationship to the conservative movement, the libertarian movement, and the Pro-life Fellowship of the latter two (who, like elves and dwarves, previously had little use for each other) that was created by the candidacy of Ron Paul.
The metaphor was originally conceived by Doktor Jeep, who is, among other things, a Rreagan Wing author, in two prescient sentences that foreshadowed all the consequences to which the series is leading. This chapter (#9 in the series), like The Silmarillion, covers enormous narrative history, in what here can only be summary. There is a lot of detail and documentation of which the following is only a synopsis. But this is one of the most significant synopses we’ve ever published. It contains the names (in bold) of the six (6) key destroyers of the Ron Paul and Rick Santorum Presidential hopes in Washington State.
In 2012 Republican Leaders, required by Republican rules to conform (as Caucus and Convention officials) to specific ethical and impartial operational procedures, instead engaged in more than 45 methods of cheating (from excluding legally elected delegates and including non-elected delegates to ballot fraud) to help secure the Republican Presidential Nomination for Mitt Romney. These infractions occurred hundreds of times all over various states. In Washington State they resulted in the illegal certification to the State Party Office of falsified State Delegations that included illegally elected Romney delegates and excluded legally elected Paul and Santorum delegates.
An all-volunteer state party Credentials Challenge Committee, chaired by Doug Parris, operating with the expressed approval of the Ron Paul Presidential Campaign, investigated and documented hundreds of specific instances of cheating and aided in the composition and timely filing of qualified “challenges” to the credentials of illegal State Delegations submitted by County Chairs. These “challenges” are under the exclusive authority of the State Republican Credentials Committee and subject to its internal rules to examine the facts and make determinations according to Republican rules.
State Party Chair Kirby Wilbur, who had personally and repeatedly participated in, aided, justified, and in some cases instigated the cheating by County officials, intervened to prevent the Credentials Committee from ruling properly. Wilbur invented a NEW RULE changing the second filing deadline for credentials challenges. The change gave complete and arbitrary control over determining compliance with his rule to Kirby’s State Party Office. The State Chair has no authority to write rules and no authority to change rules. His actions simply added to the list of his personal rules violations in 2012. Wilbur then asserted that the reports effected by his invented rules had been disqualified and labeled them “REJECTED.” He subsequently announced his appointment of then-Grant County GOP Chair, Dani Bolyard to Chair the 2012 Washington State Republican Credentials Committee meetings.
a) Refused to distribute the legally submitted Credentials Challenges.
b) Refused to distribute the evidence of massive cheating to the Committee whose job it was to rule on it.
c) Ordered Credentials Challenge Committee members to “cease and desist” submitting, directly to the Committee members, the Challenges she was illegally censoring in an attempt to prevent knowledge of the facts. (Credentials Committee members were also told to ignore the materials the Ron Paul challenge committee sent to them.)
d) Illegally seated Mitt Romney and (pro-illegal procedures) representative Rand Hein and
e) Illegally banned (Ron Paul and anti-illegal procedures) representative Micah Dilts as Committee members.
f) Entertained an illegal motion slandering Doug Parris by name.
g) Exercised illegal control over what testimony was heard.
h) Allowed the banning of participation by non-Committee members but constantly enabled the participation by Wilbur subordinates who were non-Committee members.
i) Refused, for the first time in history, to allow the makers of legal challenges to make any presentation to the Credentials Committee
j) Mischaracterized virtually every challenge that endangered Romney delegates
k) Told an outrageous lie, on her own behalf, impugning the 36th Legislative District Caucus even while the chair of that Caucus was present and prohibited from speaking.
l) Falsely informed the Committee that Kirby Wilbur’s invented filing deadline was a Republican Rule.
m) Falsely labeled every challenge targeted by Wilbur’s illegal action as “REJECTED.”
All of Bolyard’s actions (above) were gross rules violations. All of them ingratiated her with Wilbur and the GOP Establishment, the progenitors of massive cheating. All of the cheating Dani was, by her actions, enabling, was designed to sink the Ron Paul and Rick Santorum campaigns and almost all of it was successful. Then and now Dani has made the claim to being a “liberty” activist and Ron Paul supporter.
But the GOP Establishment, whenever a State Convention is in session, is in danger of being overruled by the State Convention Delegates who –by State Law – have superior authority. In order to finalize the falsification of the Credentialing of the State Convention, in order to seat the more than 500 illegally elected Romney delegates, Kirby and Dani and Sotelo and the Romney campaign empowered by their corruption, had to slip their Credentials Report by the delegates and pass it without amendment. They needed to prevent any discussion of the cheating (either at the County level or in the Credentials Committee itself). And because they had informants inside the Ron Paul camp, the GOP Establishment knew they would be facing a motion or motions on the floor. (This stratagem, having informants in their opponents camp, is a repeated tactic whereby GOP professionals dominate Movement amateurs). The Ron Paul Credentials Challenge Committee had, in fact, crafted an ironclad plan to present all the facts of the cheating to the Convention, with discussion that could not be stopped nor abridged, with a real opportunity to win the votes of all the ethical delegates (no matter their Presidential Preference) and the certainty that, voting delegates who did the wrong thing would know it and their side weakened by knowing they had violated their conscience. This is real power not readily understood by those who have no conscience.
But the Romney team successfully intimidated Ron Paul’s titular State leadership and then made with them, an informal deal to squelch the truth.
The threat was based on the bluff that the Romney team had robot control of the majority of delegates and if the challenges to illegal delegates were pressed, they had the power to remove legal Ron Paul Delegates. The “deal” was that in exchange for dropping the challenges, the Paul leaders would be “allowed” to keep the Clark County Delegation (that had already been challenged and its challenge defeated). The Ron Paul leaders, partially because they were politically inexperienced, partially because they are are personally driven to avoid confrontation, and partially because they were worried about their own National Delegate positions, decided
to capitulate to the cheating. Not only that, they worked to help cover it up by preventing and opposing any motion to reverse the Credentials Committee’s false report. This action was made without grass roots input or knowledge. They certainly didn’t consult the 35 Paul and Santorum delegates legally elected in the 41st Legislative District, or the 22 Paul and Santorum delegates legally elected in the 31st Legislative District, but stripped of their State Delegate credentials by Sotelo cheating. The “Ron Paul leaders” sacrificed other people’s positions for their own – secretly and without discussion.
In so doing, those leaders, Katja Delavar, Michael Delavar, and Matt Dubin, undercut the most significant, far-reaching and painstakingly crafted Washington State Credentials motion in decades (perhaps in history). They sabotaged an opportunity to draw an unmistakable moral line between the corruption of the GOP and those who want ethical process. They rejected the GUARANTEE to take more than 500 Romney delegates off the floor for that first vote, totally changing the numbers. They traded away any chance to take a MAJORITY of coalition delegates (for Ron Paul and Rick Santorum) to the National Convention in trade for only FIVE Ron Paul Delegates, most notably their own positions. And they traded away the most powerful tool imaginable to recruit activists to reform the Republican Party. They decided, instead, to advance their own acceptance among its corrupt leadership.
They sold their birthright for pottage.
