The following is the substance of the campaigns the candidates for the chairmanship of the Washington State Republican Party are running to win the hearts and minds of the State Committee members.
Since 2004 The Reagan Wing has labored to make the choice of a Party Chair a decision grassroots Republicans could influence. For many decades the average Republican had no idea how the Washington State Republican Party Chairman got his position, much less that they had any say in the matter. But in the years since TRW introduced state chair candidate debates (to almost violent reaction from the Establishment), the process has opened considerably.
Now you can actually consider the same material (below) your State Committee Man and State Committee Woman will be considering (and that the county chairs, somewhat less legitimately, will also be voting on).
Based on candidate concerns, we are omitting fundraising plans that will remain obscured by a fig leaf of party confidentiality. Otherwise, here is everything the candidates had made available at the time of publishing, presented alphabetically.
State Senator Pam Roach appeared at the Pierce County Candidates Forum on Sunday night and answered questions as if she had declared her candidacy but to date she has not announced that she is running for state chair and has released no information.
It is, in theory, possible for Grassroots Republicans to make their preference in this race known to the Party officers who will be voting this coming Saturday.
