When Federal agents arrested Anthony Bosworth [Wednesday] morning, a crime was most certainly committed. The crime, however, was not on the part of Mr. Bosworth. No, he was peacefully and lawfully standing outside, with an openly carried firearm.
Mr. Bosworth had shown up early with his family for an event scheduled to start at 8:00am that morning, the “Our State, Our Rights Rally.” Ironically, the Federal agents violated Mr. Bosworth’s rights at the event, and arrested him based upon a incorrect interpretation (possibly intentionally incorrect) of Federal Law. He was held without charges inside the Federal facility, and only released after a furious storm of social media exposure erupted and the County Sheriff stepped in. He was released with a citation for “failure to obey” in spite of video evidence that the Federal agents gave no lawful order for him to obey.
But a crime was committed, both under Washington State law, and under Federal law. Namely RCW 9A.40.030 “Kidnapping in the Second Degree – a Class B Felony,” and 18 US Code Section 241 “Conspiracy Against Rights.”
The criminals here wore uniforms and collect government paychecks. The State law carries with it a punishment of up to 10 years in prison, while Federal statute allows for sentencing the convicted offender to death. Justice will not be found in a lawsuit and settlement.
Justice would be the charging, trying, convicting, and appropriate punishment of the criminal perpetrators of this crime. Till that happens, justice will not have been served.
